GENERAL:

Powder Puff games on Monday, November 18.  Freshmen & sophomores at 7:00, juniors and seniors immediately following.  Powder puff participants may wear their t-shirt on Monday with uniform on the bottom.

Operation Christmas Child...you will receive your form in 1st block.  Due date for boxes is on Thursday, November 21.  Winning class gets a catered Panera breakfast!!!  Let's all participate and help make a child's Christmas special.

Beta Club Inductees:  please remind your parents/guardians and others that the induction ceremony is on November 25th at 7 pm.

Juniors will be taking a practice ACT her at CAL on December 6th during 1st and 2nd block with regularly scheduled classes 3rd and 4th block. ALL juniors are required to take this practice exam and it is recommended that they treat it as if it were the real thing to receive the greatest benefit from this opportunity.  Method Test Prep will be grading the test and providing potentially critical feedback that can be used in future test prep.

Coupon Books are $20, still available and make wonderful Christmas gifts/stocking stuffers. Send a check to the high school office.  PTO will send home the books ordered.

CAL PTO is hosting a Middletown Blaze Pizza Fundraising Night Wednesday 11/20 from 5:00-8:00pm.  Please join us in raising money that directly impacts your students by sharing a meal at Blaze and informing them at checkout that you are supporting the CAL PTO.

Indiana University Southeast is waving their application fee for the week of Monday, November 11th & Friday, November 15th Kentucky seniors can have their application fee waived using waiver code “SECOLAPP”.   Our application fee is normally $35, so this is a great opportunity for students that might be concerned about their acceptance to a university. Our admissions standards are straightforward: 2.0 unweighted GPA and students must take the ACT/SAT.  Please note that we do not have a minimum score requirement for ACT/SAT, we only require the student to submit their scores. 

Application Fee Waivers: For the month of November, Miami University of Ohio is providing up to 10 application fee waivers per high school across the country. We want to ensure all students have the opportunity to apply to Miami by our December 1 deadline for merit scholarship consideration.

The KY 2A State Championships is pleased to announce the availability of a scholarship to deserving seniors from a State Championship High School. It doesn't matter that CAL is now 3A in football. A minimum of (8) $500 scholarships will be awarded to seniors who plan to attend college at any college or university in the state of KY. See your counselor for an application. The due date is December 10th. 

The Delta Kappa Gamma Society International is a professional honor society of key women educations in the United States, Canada, Europe, Latin America, and Japan. Their mission is to promote the professional growth of women educators and excellence in education. Each year, Xi Chapter, Louisville, provides Scholarship Grants to outstanding seniors, who to plan to enter teacher preparation programs. See your counselor for an application. Applications are due by Friday, December 13th.

It is time again for Murray State University's Commonwealth Honors Academy! The 2020 Academy will be held on June 6th - June 27th. The Academy brings together 120 rising high school seniors from KY and the surrounding region for three weeks for an exciting, challenging academic enrichment program. The KY Federation of Republican Women grants a $1500 scholarship to a college-bound high school senior girl who has been politically active within the Republican Party. The qualified applicant will graduate in 2020, is or will be a registered Republican and plans to enroll at an accredited college or university in KY. See your counselor for an application. The deadline to apply is April 1, 2020. 

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES:

Polar Express Pajama Party at Rock Creek!  Needed: 1 or 2 high school students to assist in setting up and helping with crafts and snacks, supervising students (may include students from the Providence School) Service Hours will be rewarded for your time.When: December 6th and 13th, 5:45-9:15  You are welcome to help with both days or just one. GET YOUR CAL VS DESALES GAME TICKET EARLY!Game tickets for Friday's CAL @ DeSales playoff game will be sold during HS break on FRIDAY (11/15).  Cash or check ONLY accepted for ticket sales.  Tickets are $7.00 each.   CAL Varsity Football @ DeSales Kickoff 7:30pm.  

Nov 16th  Night of the Centurions  starts at 6:30 pm- donations or 2 canned good items for admission.  At 5pm is a chili supper in the cafe for $5- ALL are welcome.
