Academic Eligibility for Student Athletes

We hope your school year has taken off smoothly. We wanted to take a quick moment to remind of your athletic eligibility policy, known as Athletic Grade Check. You may even hear it referred to as ‘Grade Check’. This report is processed each Friday at 8am.

If your student is playing a sport, or will play one at some point this year, please take note of the following eligibility requirements:
  1. A student athlete must maintain a 2.0 gpa on a weekly basis.
  2. A student athlete may not have an F in any class, even if the F doesn’t take them below a 2.0
If a student athlete does not meet either of the above for one week:
  • That student may practice but not participate in games/matches for one week – Friday at Midnight, until the next Friday at Grade Check (or until midnight if there is no school on Friday.)
If a student athlete does not meet either of the above for a second consecutive week:
  • That student may not practice nor participate in games/matches for one week – Friday at Midnight, until the next Friday at Grade Check (or until midnight if there is no school on Friday.)
  • This would continue until the student’s grades met the two above requirements.

Scenario:

If a student is deemed ineligible on Friday, and the grade goes back up on Tuesday, please know that they are still ineligible until the following Friday.

Please know, where there are questions about grades, we do err in favor of the student.

Our first Athletic Grade Check will be next Friday, September 7.

Thank you,
Mr. Chad Foster
