End Of Year Activities

Dear Parents,

The roses are in full bloom and I could not resist sending you a picture. The students are enjoying recess and their laughter is drifting across campus. As I walked to the playground at noon today, the sights, the smells, and the sounds of Rock Creek caused me to smile. I’ll admit that I am ready for summer, but after a few weeks the voices and the activity of the students will be greatly missed. I hope you are ready for summer – it is almost here! Please take time to read about the special events happening on campus over the next seven days.

Field Day – Friday, May 18 – 8:30 a.m.-2:45 p.m.

We cannot wait for this fun filled day! Thank you to the parent /grandparent volunteers: 45 for the full day and 18 for half of the day. If you have not signed up to volunteer but can stop by for a portion of the day, please join us. We are excited to have the support of area businesses for our Field Day and see this as a great opportunity to promote Rock Creek to the community. Please be sure to thank these businesses for their participation: Smoothie King, Blue Mile Running Store, Printex USA, Hwangs Martial Arts, Kid-Fit YMCA, Yoga 4 Real, FCA Motocross, FUN365 Inflatables, and Sandy Cooper: www.godspeakstoday.net
    • Full Day Volunteers – PTO is providing lunch for you!
    • Parents – be sure to return the signed
permission slip to your classroom teacher.

Fifth Grade Celebration – Tuesday, May 22 – 10:00-11:15 a.m.

Family and friends are invited to join us in the gym as we celebrate the reading of the New Testament by fifth grade students. After the program fifth graders will leave campus to spend the day with family and friends. They return the next day for the Fifth Grade Day of Service. This is their opportunity to say thank you to the teachers and staff as they help with projects around the campus. What a wonderful opportunity for the students to “give back” to the school.

Kindergarten Graduation – Thursday, May 24 – 10:00-11:00 a.m.

Completing Kindergarten is an accomplishment - from “babies” to first graders in 180 days! We invite family and friends to join us in this special rite of passage and the final day of Kindergarten. Light refreshments will be served following the program. Kindergarteners will not return to school on Friday, May 25.

Last Chapel! – Friday, May 25 – 1:00-1:40 p.m.

The final chapel of the year on the last day of school is always special; please join us if you can. Fifth grade students will be honored for their final “Walk-In/Walk-Out” of the Rock Creek gym. Mrs. Wegert has a spiritual challenge planned through a high energy service to ensure we begin the summer well. Students may leave campus with parents at the end of Chapel; special area teachers will be at all doorways so parents can sign out for early dismissal.

Blessed beyond measure,

Maribeth Thomas | Rock Creek Principal
