April MacDonald earned her undergraduate degree in Music Education from the University of Louisville School of Music, and her Master’s Degree in Education from Indiana University Southeast, with additional studies from Ohio State University in string education studies.  She began her teaching career in the Shelby County school system, then the Jefferson County school system in Louisville. In 2006, feeling led to Christian education, Mrs. MacDonald accepted the Orchestra Director position at Christian Academy of Louisville.  Under her direction, the orchestra program grew from two orchestra, which included approximately twenty-two students, to a program today that includes four orchestra, servicing well over a hundred string players.  In 2005, the CAL Chamber and Symphonic Orchestras were selected to perform at the Kentucky Music Educators annual teacher conference. Mrs. MacDonald is an active member of the Kentucky Music Educators Association, where she has served All State Commonwealth Strings coordinator for three years, and, most recently, six years as Festival Manager for KMEA District 12 here in Louisville.  Her family includes her husband of sixteen years, Mike MacDonald, and two children:  Brooke, a cellist in the high school Chamber Orchestra, and Kaden, a string bass player in middle school orchestra.
