As the flu season is upon us, the CDC Says “Take 3” Actions To Fight The Flu. Click here to read more.
In our schools across the system, we are asking the cleaning crew to be extra diligent in making sure that handrails, push bars and handles on doors, and the water fountains are all cleaned each night. Our teachers are cleaning desks, pencil sharpeners and other commonly shared items, as well as promoting hand washing. We need your help in encouraging your students to wash their hands frequently, keep their hands out of their mouths and noses, and cover their coughs and sneezes with their elbows instead of their hands. The best defense against illness is frequent, proper hand washing! That practice alone will help prevent most viruses from spreading. As a reminder: Children must not come to school if their temperature is above 100 degrees. Children who have been ill may not return to school until their temperature has been below 100 degrees for 24 hours (without the use of fever relieving medication). Also, they may not return to school until 24 hours has passed since the last episode of vomiting and/or diarrhea. Parents should check with physicians regarding a child’s return to school after communicable diseases, etc.
