Grateful: For a New School Year!

Dear Parents,

It is my prayer you have had a joyful summer break with your family and are excited to begin a new school year. To prepare for the year, all Rock Creek teachers and staff read the book, "Teaching Kids Authentic Worship: How to Keep Them Close to God for Life" by Kathleen Chapman. Our chapel theme is Knowing God and this book provides excellent examples to ensure children truly know God in their daily lives. As a result of reading, I have been seeking and acknowledging God’s engagement in my daily activities, and truly, His blessings are abundant. The staff and I highly recommend this book, and copies are available in the library for you to check out. I am grateful for teachers and staff who take to heart leading students to Know God deeply.

Grateful for Christian Academy. What a blessing to have a Christian school system with a strong academic focus where children are nurtured to know, love, serve, and honor God. I am grateful.

Grateful for teachers who love the Lord and love teaching His children. We eagerly welcome back our returning staff, including two teachers new to Rock Creek. Mrs. Michelle Melhorn, a current Rock Creek parent, will be teaching 1st grade, and Ms. Kim Myles, who taught at the Southwest Campus for seven years, has transferred to Rock Creek and will teach 4th grade.

Grateful for change! New and returning families will notice many changes on the campus. The gym, kindergarten, first grade, music, and fifth grade classrooms have had exterior renovations. The cafeteria restrooms have been switched, so be alert! The Down Syndrome Program (DSP) begins this year with two students in preschool and one in Kindergarten. Yes, Kindergarten is a change from our original plan, but due to unique circumstances, God is using Rock Creek teachers, staff, parents, and students in an amazing way, and we are blessed to be on a journey with Him. Please welcome Clay Deveau as our DSP Kindergarten Teaching Assistant.

Grateful for students who eagerly anticipate their “Teacher Letter.” Letters were mailed today so check those mailboxes! If you do not receive your letter by Friday, please contact the school office. On Back-to-School Day stop by the gym to exchange your completed forms (included with letter and available at for your Back-to-School Packet before heading to the classroom. It will be very good to see you in a couple of weeks.
