How did you get involved with CAL athletics? I played with Dan English at Louisville Fire and he asked me
to come help with football.
What are your goals as Strength & Conditioning Coach? Strength & Conditioning started with football and
now extends to all CAL athletes. We average about 130 athletes from various sports which equals about 250-300 workouts per week. Our goals are core strengthening and flexibility. My personal goal is to develop a power lifting/weight lifting club. It would allow athletes to compete year round. It will also offer them the chance to compete beyond their school career as a Centurion. It is something they can do their entire lives.
How do you use Strength & Conditioning to teach your athletes about Jesus? This is a ministry. It is the foundation for how they will go out and perform in their sport and for their team. Jesus made a sacrifice for us and Strength & Conditioning is a sacrifice of their time for the betterment of their team.
What motivates you to give of your time and talents to coach? Seeing the kids when they move on to the next
stage in their life. That’s why I’m here. For the kids. I hope to share and let them learn from my mistakes. I
get to work with all athletes and not just one sport. Knowing I can have a hand in forming foundations creates a special bond.
What experiences, coaching or playing, have shaped your faith? Seeing the kind of impact we have on these
kids. It’s so rewarding when you know what you are trying to do and see that they get it.
If you had an entire day to spend as you pleased in Louisville, where would you go? I would spend time with
my family doing whatever we wanted to do. Just hang out and enjoy our time together.
