Summer and Back-to-School Information

Ahh...Summer! Long days, baseball, family gatherings, swimming pools, and time to read.

I love to read and am participating with our students in Rock Creek’s summer reading program, Wild About Books. Several students recommended Wonder, by RJ Palacio, and I highly recommend it for fourth and fifth grade students, as well as parents. This story about a boy named August could generate interactive family discussions about kindness.  I don't want to give too much away so I encourage you to read it yourself or along with your child.

Remind your student about their required summer reading. The Wild About Books form is to be completed and returned on Back-to-School Day.  Details about this program were included in your student’s packet sent home at the end of the year.  If you need another copy, click here.

Rock Creek Used Uniform Sale
Purchases may be made Monday-Friday, 8:30 a.m.–3:30 p.m.  Items are located in the teacher break room right off the cafeteria.  Items have been cleaned and sorted by size to help you find just what your student may need to start the new school year.  Remember, our office is closed July 1-5.

Rock Creek Renovation
If you drive by the campus this summer take time to notice our freshly painted gym.  Other facility projects underway include remodeling of the kindergarten and first grade buildings as well as exterior painting of the music and fifth grade classrooms.  Stop by and take a look!
